Pet Sitter / Dog Walker

Position: Pet Sitter / Dog Walker (Part-time / W2 Employee)
Shift: Monday – Friday, 10 AM – 3 PM and 11-4 pm

Your duties will include feeding, walking, playing with pets, and ensuring their overall well-being and administering medication as needed. Additionally, light house-sitting duties will be part of your responsibilities to ensure the home remains safe and secure.

This role involves providing high-quality pet care services to clients in Metuchen NJ, ensuring their pets are happy, safe, and well cared for in their absence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide in-home pet care, including walks, feeding, watering, and administering medication as needed.
• Monitor pets’ health, behavior, and well-being, reporting any concerns to the pet owners.
• Follow client instructions regarding pet routines and house rules.
• Maintain communication with clients through updates, photos, and notes after each visit.
• Ensure home security by locking doors, following entry/exit protocols, and managing alarm systems.
• Handle cleaning tasks such as litter box maintenance and cleaning up after pets.
• Follow instructions from pet owners and Team Leaders.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment for our clients
• Lite house-sitting duties such as collecting mail, watering plants, and ensuring home security, alternating lights. Putting out or pulling in garbage pails.

Requirements:

• A genuine love for animals
• Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Reliable Vehicle for transportation to clients homes and a valid driver’s license.
• Must pass a background check.
• Excellent communication skills and a friendly, professional demeanor.
• Experience with dog handling with an understanding of dog behavior.
• Ability to handle dogs of varying sizes and temperaments.
• Ability to care for other pets such as: Cat, dogs, bunnies, guinea pigs, bearded dragons. etc.
• Smart Phone with Unlimited Data for communication with our office and clients.
• Physical ability to walk long distances, bend, lift, walk briskly, climb stairs. Search under furniture.
• Ability to work and drive in all weather conditions.
• Keen sense of surroundings while walking with dogs for safety.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to respond calmly in emergencies, whether it’s a pet injury or other unexpected situations.
• Animal Behavior Understanding: Knowing how to read animal body language and respond to different temperaments.
• Communication Skills: Clear communication with pet owners, especially about pet behavior, medical issues, or scheduling.

• Reliability and Responsibility: Being dependable is essential, as pet owners trust sitters with their pets and homes. Your attendance and adherence to your schedule is paramount.
• Time Management: Ability to work independently and manage your schedule, travel between jobs efficiently for on-time arrivals.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in pet care or a related field is preferred.
• Student in related field such as animal science, Veterinary or Vet Tech students
• Pet Care Education in any of the following:
  • pet first aid
  • dog training
  • pet sitting
  • animal care
  • animal behavior
